You can't space the axle downwards Frank because it sits on top of the leaf springs, so U bolt spacers reduce the clearance and would make it worse.

Perhaps Duffs should check the U Bolts are tight enough, remembering our 1500 mile 4/4 with stripped threads.
Is there anything under there to stop the front end twistung & lifting? After 30000 miles, maybe it has twisted upwards and stuck there?
Where does BHM sit in all of this???
