To be honest, the challenge of producing a monthly mag about such a niche product will never work well.
I think you are quite correct Dave. I think however that there's a huge untapped market out there for a general interest Men's magazine aimed at the 45 - 70 age group which isn't full of aspirational lifestyle nonsense.
There are loads of 'Men's Health' type mags out there for the youngsters, but I reckon a monthly with a bit of classic car, a bit of woodworking, some home DIY stuff, maybe a feature on trains or planes, maybe some modelling, some decent real ale pub reviews, a museum visit, a bit of photography, that kind of stuff would go down very well.
