Usually the mist goes as the dials heat up from the internal bulbs. Even cars that are always garaged and have never been wet do it.

That is true, this is generally the temperature difference between inside the gauges and outside. When this arrives, I switch the dashboard light off to balance the temperature and after 10 to 15mn the mist disappears and you can switch back dashboard light on.
