One mustn’t forget that we (those born between, say, 1940 and 1970) are the most fortunate generation: the NHS has looked after us well during our lifetime increasing the average lifetime by years; index linked final salary pension schemes for many; huge property inflation which enabled us to trade up and make more money than we were able to earn or save; no major world wars and no conscription; lived through the birth of roll n roll, the Beatles, the E- Type Jaguar plus many other classic sports cars which are now hugely sought after, just to mention a few.
And we are now able to enjoy the rewards!

We weren’t distracted by “stuff” so we could focus our limited resources on our houses in the early stages of our nest building.
And we can pass some of our good fortune on to the next generation.
