I took this advice from a Morgan owner who works in the Aberdeen Oil Industry. It is reported that the lowering of the coefficient of friction by Md based greases could in theory be enough to loosen a wire wheel off its hub. I am not aware fo this ever having happened in practice , or whether the expert was being a tad over-cautious , but his knowledge in this area is second to none and I have always respected that.

Rudge hubs aren't reliant on friction, they self tighten which is why they are different on each side. I inadvertently tested this when I did the nuts up finger tight when the car was off the ground intending to tighten them further once it was lowered. Somehow I was distracted and drove 30 miles before I remembered. By then they were much tighter than finger tight although I did tighten them a bit further.
