Don't know whether this just applies to the Roadster but compared with the modern Mini I regularly drive the steering is lower geared. Whilst fairly light particularly after greasing kingpins, there is a reduced self centering action leaving a slight lack of feel. This equates to having to use a good armful to straighten up after pulling out of tight junction.
Being used to strong self centering action with an initial understeer feel my Morgan took a little getting used to. It does corner remarkably well and drama free though with very little roll and hasn't caught me out in the dry yet.
