Bearings can be affected by brinnelling. Brinelling can be caused by a heavy load resting on a stationary bearing for an extended length of time.
As the S&S x-wedge uses plain shell bearings for both mains and rods, I can't imagine this would be an issue. The issue you describe is much more likely with ball bearings due to the high point loads involved.
