I always thought that swirl flaps went in 2002, or maybe that was when the faulty ones were superceded?
Fortunately Morgan fitted the later second generation Duratecs to both the 1.8 and 2.0L so the swirl plate issue had been fixed. There are other subtle changes to the later engine including the cooling system.
