Just a reminder that the 2nd Swarkestone scenic run will take place this Sunday. It’s a ‘hop-on, hop-off’ run so you can choose to do as much or as little of it as you choose. Please contact me if you are interested in coming, especially if you want to join us at ‘Simply Thai’ for lunch. Approximate timings as follows:
9:30 Meet at John Jackson’s garden centre, south of Derby [DE73 7GQ]. Have a cuppa if time allows.
10:00 Depart.
10:45 The first stop will be to take a tour of Tom Cowley’s three wheeler restoration workshops [DE6 1LL]. Following this we will drive through Ashbourne to….
11:35 A brief stop at the tea rooms in the pretty village of Tissington [DE6 1RA] and then a splash through Tissington Ford (assuming that waters aren’t too high…)
12:40 Lunch stop in Buxton. Parking in Pavilion Gardens [SK17 9AR]. Lunch at Simply Thai - many other eateries are available. After lunch there will be a little time to explore Buxton and it’s many interesting shops.
14:15 Leave Buxton and follow the A6 through Bakewell & Matlock and on to the Via Gellia road (much favoured by bikers).
15:20 Middleton Top Engine House [DE4 4LS]. An impressive 1829 winding engine that should be ‘in steam’ at the time of our visit.
Full suggested route directions will be provided and 3 Wheelers of all ages are welcome. I understand that a number of the older three wheelers will be meeting at Cowley Restorations before joining the run.
You will need £3.60 in loose change for car parks. Entry to the Middleton Engine House is £2.80 (£1.35 concessions).
