Do as Ray suggests. The jump lead direct from the battery negative to the starter mounting bolt will bypass all other earths. If the engine spins ok then clean all earths as that is the problem.
Care, though, make sure don't touch any other parts when connecting. Connect the motor end first then battery negative.
If no improvement then give the battery a charge then retry.
