The low or non-alcholic beers / lagers seem OK now (well you know what I mean!) but has anyone found a half decent low or non-alcoholic wine? They just don't seem to exist as yet.
My favourite Zero Alcohol beer is Peroni Zero, it is really good.
Sadly, a drinkable alcohol free wine is unlikely: not impossible because much research is going on to achieve the objective.
Zero alcohol beer is possible because it is possible to brew 2.5% flavoursome, aromatic beer. Removing 2.5% alcohol, without the flavour components is possible with existing technology.
It is perfectly possible to remove 2.5% to 3% alcohol from wine, using the same technology, but no one is interested in 10% wine.
It is possible to remove all the alcohol, but most of the taste and aroma goes as well: most of the alcohol free wines do this and then blend in grape juice and other flavours to make something drinkable.
In my view white wine, served cold, is OK, ish... But red? so far I've not found anything I want to drink the second glass...
But I live in hope...
