I am being to think that a pre1970 cars (mine is 68 69j has different brackets. If I mounted mine as shown in the phots the radiator will sit too high. My top bracket looks the same but the crossbrace is 5/16 dia and doesn’t have a support for the radiator it is only used for holding the radiator in the vertical position via a brace back to the toolbox
Yes, you're correct the pre '70 radiators are different, with the tie bar back to the tool box.
That said, the radiator should sit on top of the mounts. Early cars didn't use bobbins and just had a rubber pad with a bolt through it
