I've looked at using AN type adaptors at the engine end, but S&S specifies 1/2" hose for the oil feed and return, and there is not suitable space to install -8 (1/2") fittings, so you are left using -6 fittings (3/8") with it's resultant 44% reduction in flow area, which probably is not a good idea. Additionally, AN fittings are typically made of aluminum with a greater wall thickness than the thin wall steel fittings MMC used on the engine, so flow potential is further reduced.
Steel braided hoses need to be given proper consideration to firmly attaching them when routing, as they can act like a file if left to chaff against other parts. So the hose survives, but other parts are destroyed. One of my Lotus Elans had an oil cooler when I purchased it that had braided hose running forward to the cooler, just laying across the steering rack. I don't know how long it took, but when I removed the cooler and lines, the top of the rack tube was worn clean through by one of the lines.
