My first car was a MGA coupe (fixed head). It was dreadful. It should have had two 6 volt batteries under the floor behind the seats. The trouble is that 6V batteries are not common and cost more than a (bigger in size) 12 volt. So the prevous owner had renoved the floor behind the seats and wedged in a 12 volt battery - trouble was the floor could not be refitted. At 50 mph the whole car shook so the instruments were impossible to read . I paid £100 for the car when I was 18, and under instructions from my parests sold it for £80, but the number plate for £40 (50 CRM) this was in 1978.
