By far the most comprehensive thread guide I've discovered is the one by Maryland Metrics, unfortunately no longer available directly on line but as a pdf download
here. There are one or two rare types missing in the list, British Cycle threads for example and all thread sizes are listed in ascending order with imperial major diameters, but metric sizes are included with actual thread pitch rather than imperial tpi.
I've found it invaluable in identifying threads on vintage stuff I occasionally re-furbish.
