Here are suggestions for two rides taking in a couple of interesting sites and venues.
1: Ride to Front Royal and then head a little west to VA 678. This is an out of the way ride through Fort Valley and a winding climb to the top of the ridge of Massanutten Mountain and an overlook of Luray VA. Then a steep and winding road (sort of like a Beatles song) into Luray for lunch. Luray allows us to climb up to skyline drive and back to the lodge. It is only 103 miles, but Google says it takes 3 hours!.
2: Skyland lodge to Huntly VA (via Front Royal) and a visit/tour/tasting at Rappahannock cellars. They also have picnic tables so it would be a great place to have a picnic lunch. We are members of their wine club, so if people wish to purchase wine we can mix and match a case with a 15% discount. I will have to check but there is a reasonable fee for the tour tasting. From Huntly then off to Sperryville to the Copper Fox distillery. This is a small distillery with a free tour (tasting has a fee) and they make a REALLY good single malt barley whisky. Then back to Skyland where I am sure we will all need a nap! Less than 90 miles but with the stops and winding roads will be the better part of a day.
