I would probably go for lacquer in an open car, and it looks nice.
Yes, I like the look of the lacquer but any gloss finish needs to be applied in a dust free environment and this is difficult in my garage. This will need looking into if I go this route.
Nice job. Treatex is available in Matt, satin and gloss. Really easy to apply, durable and very easy to touch up should any scratches appear at any point.
Alternatively, for a super high gloss finish we used to send woodwork to our coffin maker who spray lacquered it.
