My S1 was just the same with the Lambda when it was fitted with a K&N filter.
After replacing the K&N with a standard filter, the lambda was improved.
I fitted a new standard bosch filter a few months ago, so I'll check through my history file to see if there's any change in the reading to see if it's always been at the limit.
