I installed the new gaiter as per Richard's recommendation.
The replacement is slightly longer than the original, but it fits. It took about 1 hour to trim and fit.
After closer examination the gaiter on the other side is also split, so I have ordered a replacement. This looks a little more complicated. Does anyone have any illustrations/instructions on how to do it?
