Actually on a Morgan it makes no difference at all, the cancelling mechanism is fully floating and driven by pegs on the steering wheel boss

What’s happened here is that the rack has moved sideways in its clamps when the gaiters were swapped, the tracking hasnt moved…
With a bit of luck you’ll still be able to see the original marks on the rack made by the clamps , and adjust the rack sideways to suit


Exactly my thoughts Simon. The dealer took care to fit rack back in same place after warranty gaiter replacement. They also road tested to confirm.

Regarding the self cancelling I made sure the actuating slots on MotoLita wheel I fitted were symetrically displaced in straight ahead position and located on plastic ears of cancelling mechanism when wheel pushed on, but otherwise not critical.

Adjusting track rods to compensate is wrong solution to correct steering wheel alignment IMHO unless there is a lock issue as well, after which toe would need to be checked anyway.
