Ref my "track day" comment about the Avon's.
It was really just a throw away comment and not meant as a review of the tyres track day suitability.
It is not that the ZV7's were a disaster, just that there is far more track focused rubber out there although that tends to be more available with lower profile tyres.
When I did a track day a couple of weeks ago , I felt that the tyres warmed up quickly but started to get a bit vague towards the end of each session.
However the tyres were also quite new with pretty much full tread depth which would not have helped.
Of course, there is always a compromise in this respect. Generally speaking track tyres are not great road tyres and vice versa.
In conclusion, The Avons were my choice because they will be used predominantly on road and were "acceptable" on track. But as I said before, they are "not the best track day tyres"
BTW Jon, I did increase the pressures and played with them a bit. Started with a 3psi increase which I upped to a 5psi increase as the day wore on.
So I had between 24 and 26 psi front and 26 to 28 in the rears. They were measured slightly warm as they didn't truly go cold between sessions.
BTW 2. Remember to drop the pressures again before you set off home after the track day. It was bl**dy awful on the road at the higher pressures.
