We had an epic tour to Black Forest a few years ago; my bike then was a GSXR750!!
Hardly a tourer, but with just a day pack and throw-over panniers all went well.As for the welcome, I agree that you are treated with far more courtesy than in the UK. I really like Southern Germany, wonderful people, wonderful scenery and fantastic roads.
I would like to take the Mog there.
