Perhaps you could lay a cane across the car on top of the wheelarches to support the folded hood?

So simple, but genius. It works. Although I didn't use a cane, but tried it with an old broom handle. I think a new handle coated in Danish oil an secured with velcro is my next mod. The only slight downside is it does tighten the curve of the window, but still not enough to cause it to pinch.
