Still can't get the database update to work.
I have once again reverted to the previous version and put the site back on-line.
It is damned frustrating and I have submitted a bug report. Hopefully the thing will be fixed soon as up until now all the updates have gone reasonably smoothly. The update of the files themselves (over 32,000 of them) is pretty straight forward but the script for the database update is what is not working.
If possible I will ask for a list of the changes required for the database in order to perform the individual changes manually.
In any case the site is back on line until we get a fix.
