Only "problem" with a newer (CX platform) Plus 6 is that they are automatic gearboxes (with paddles).
If you want to "shift up & down through the gears", I'd be tempted to look at a Plus 6 or a Roadster - The CX Plus 4 as new is available with the Mazda manual gearbox
