I had a similar problem, although not as intermittent, on another engine. Someone suggested plug wires, which I resisted because they looked fine and were less than 3 years old. Finally I relented and instant fix! Apparently, modern OEM plug wires can have a relatively rapid internal break down due to the fact that have to be easily recyclable ( this is what I have been told). Might as well start with the easy things first!
