I live in Llanelli just across the estuary from North Gower. I regularly drive to Mumbles/Gower. There are plenty of places to stay from hotels to B&B.
Living close means I don’t need accommodation so can’t comment. Mumbles is nice with pubs, restaurants down to the pier area. It can get busy there in summer but plenty of car parks. Touring Gower is great. South Gower has beaches that are superb.
I like Oxwich which is a stunning bay and has a hotel with its own car parking. I go there a lot for the free parking ( I use the hotel for snacks, coffee etc and walk the beach/coast with the dog. The public carpark is pay to use. Further afield you have Port Eynon with a beach, coast walks, nice pub (The Ship). Rhossili is great with cliff walks overlooking Llangennith beach and access to Worms head across a causeway ( tide permitting but don’t get it wrong!
North Gower has Penclawdd ( famous for cockles)
That is a very brief travel-log! There’s much more.
Besides Gower you might have time to go inland to Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and beyond. Just factor in the 20 mph zones for travel times!
When are you thinking of going? It might be possible to meet up. If you want any info get in touch.
