It was fine in Bavaria but then we had the kit.
The Ami 8 with skinny tyres was great, the Scimitar not so great in Zeven and the Hartz mountains.
Likewise; when I owned a 2CV, that was also great to drive in snow.
Coming upto date, our 2WD Fiat Panda Cross is also very good in slippery conditions.
Narrow tyres, plenty of suspension travel and not too much power, makes it ideal.
Other benefits include, nice and narrow for Devon lanes, simple controls and 45 to 50mpg.
