I once " kept an ultima at bay" in my '93 4/4.
No. I am not dreaming, drunk, enjoying substances!
On the A40 between Llandovery and Brecon. I spotted a lime green car coming up behind. I recognised it as an Ultima. Awesome V8 sound. I got a move-on to stay ahead until the Brecon By-pass and enjoy the sound, imagining the 4/4 as the source. As we came off the roundabout onto the by-pass I was in the left lane leaving him to pass in the other lane. He obliged by accelerating and increasing the noise, waved with a thumbs-up as he passed. Several miles later on the dual carriageway from Abergavenny to Raglan I saw the dar parked up, the driver emptying his"tank" in the bushes.
Next day I went onto the Ultima section on Pistonheads to post a message. The driver answered. He recognised my " getting a move on" tactic and admired the 4/4. He had been out on a run with other Ultimas.
I had seen Ultimas at the Newark Kit Car show. Awesome! They had 3 cars in build stages there. Impressive with the big US V8 engines on the rolling chassis version.
