Kevin, When you turn the ignition on does the fuel pump start up to pressurise the system? It should then stop when this is achieved. if this doesn't happen check to see if you have power to the pump If not next check is fuse to fuel pump relay and then the fuel pump relay itself. The relays are frankly poor quality and the contacts can just fail to make or power the circuit or even fail to operate on the primary side. Go onto BHM site and select parts, then select your classic year, scroll to the end and you will find the electrical circuit diagram for your model and year and you can start to do a logical check of the wiring, contacts and components.Your relay will either be under the bonnet or under the dash. A finger on them when ignition is switched on will tell you if its functioning but you will still have to check for the switched power. Most electrical components are really outside the car by the very nature of the car and suffer with moisture corrosion so a good undo and remake of the fuses/relays and connectors inc earths often cures a multitude of problems. Don't forget to check the ECU connecter as well!
