They're having a laugh, relaxed, must be joking. We had a Abarth for about 3 years and whilst it was great fun the noise was horriic. Great for a 30 minute blast down a B road but anything else and you needed ear defenders. Very, very tiring on a long drive. The MX5, of which we have owned many over the years, is the complete opposite. You pays your money .....

I wonder if the exhaust flap was seized open ?
My second car was much noisier than the first and somewhat unpleasant at certain revs. Having owned one previously I knew something was wrong. Turns out that the spring-loaded valve in the exhaust was seized open, a fairly common problem as it turns out.
