Oil in the top, there is a suggestion somewhere to use 120 weight, consistency of treacle? My car was modified to remove the top oiler fitting and replace with grease.
If you are changing KPs, go for hard chrome and make sure the bushes are those with the grease 'reservoir'.
Gaitors - various options Peter, though I wouldn't go for 'permanent' fit like fork gaitors.
Old innertube held with cable tie is one option.
Dave W's mohair are another.
On my old 4/4 I have split corrugated electrical tubing, again held with tie wraps. When this eventually cracks I have a pair of Dave W's mohair, bought to go on my +4, but retained when I sold the car
. There are other options out there - someone is making leather variety, but they are pricey!
