Richard: my wife similarly encouraged me to find a way to soften the ride on our 2009 Roadster. I had the front SSL installed in 2021 but after a lot of discussion (including with the excellent chaps at SSL), last year I decided against the rear conversion. Reasons: skill level way above my pay grade, and cost is not inconsiderable. I did however fit the "Roger's bump stops", there are lots of references on TM, but e.g.
