I believe its a fairly straight forward job to re tune the TR6 engine back to higher spec.
Camshaft - From about £130 reprofiled or at lot more for a chilled cast iron one (new).Cylinder head - Stage 2 modified using your head - from about £500. Pair of rebuilt SU HS6 carbs on manifold with linkage - about £230.Distributor (a lot of people forget this) - about £150.Exhaust manifold and system in Stainless Steel - About £500.
Thanks for the information on re-tuning American TR6s. The TR6 is arguably the most popular of the classic English sportscars in America, so I figured that the owners must be doing something about their engines. In most states it's okay to tamper with the pollution equipment after the cars is 25 years old, especially if the cars is registered as antique. My comments were based on a new TR6 I drove in 1973.
For my Hathaway Hunter project I'll still probably go with a TR4 chassis, because part of the negotiations with my wife involved a promise to use the kit on a rusty TR4 that I have.
