The past 'exploits' of some of the entrants, specifically their behaviour on the road (and deaths caused), makes it a very challenging event to support; therefore, I struggle to get excited about the Gumball.
It will bring further awareness of the M3W in the USA but I'd be interested to know if MMC will see a direction correlation in increased sales.
I'm totally with you on this Simon. The appalling accident in Macedonia in the 2007 Gumball 3000 rally, in particular the way those responsible tried to evade justice, discredited the "Gumball" brand in a big way. Unless things are managed VERY differently now I'd suggest that there's a high risk that participation in this type of event on public roads could prove extremely damaging to a manufacturer's reputation.
