I had an unfortunate incident at the forecourt a few weeks or so ago where by I filled the forecourt up with petrol and not the tank. Suitcase, Spare wheel and luggage rack removal later told of petrol filler pipe with several splits.
Went about replacing it was told and had to order the part in at £92 + VAT, for the 2005 Roadster, blimey!
Anyway got in there took the old off this last weekend only to find the replacements breather pipe was longer than the original, I had to put the new on, as I had cut the old off and petrol was leaking, so cut it down some £25 pounds worth. Pictures show splitting and difference in length.
The part number on the old one is MPS0554 some £48 + vat a +8 part.
Just suggesting don’t be as green as I was. Take it apart first then order right one, don’t go on dealer recommendation, unless their doing it for you, but then you wouldn’t know any different!
I had the same problem on my 2005 Roadster, although without the forecourt drama! I also had to cut the breather to length, but the up side was that I could fill the tank at full pump speed after that, whereas before I had to fill it at a dribble.
It cost me about £100. Wish I'd known about the other part at the time...
