I had a glass fuse recently that looked fine - but had failed - the cap had come loose and the connection lost with the fuse wire - visually looked OK - until I took it out in desparation and left one of the caps in the holder.....

Hehe, I've had a number do that. Drill a tiny hole in each cap, feed new fusewire through from the end with the fixed cap, through the loose cap which you can then refit and solder wire to both caps - bingo, new fuse!

Blade fuses can appear OK, when they're not, too.

Not a bad plan - I also noted the fuse terminals coroding a bit so I found a new Lucas fuse holder on Ebay.

Then I learnt what I thought were moulding "features" (kind of holes in the holder body between the first and last fuses and those in the middle) were a vertical holder for spare fuses!

Small things....

Yes, well I'd happily give lessons if anyone wanted to know how to use a multimeter - easiest done in a practical fashion of course - as you well know!! smile

Cheers,

For fuses use the continuity setting (diode check). It's the setting marked (normally) by a solid triangle with a vertical lie against one of the points. Mine beeps went there is a connection between two points, ie the two ends of a fuse.

Cheers,

Take you up on that one Graham, if you get down to Wheels in Winslow you can show me over a pint!

I would also appreciate tips on using a Dremmel, I'm am positive I am not getting the full use out of all the attachments.

I have also lost indicator lights once, but it was due to water ingress. They only worked when headlights were turned off. Next morning everything was OK again.

Hello Harald,
my 2006 anniversary has the same fuse box card. It has not much in common with the reality. mad2
The cigar lighter, both backlights and the sidelights share one fuse in reality.

Keep mogging,

Christian
