I have just fitted a new to me sports exhaust, I used a couple of the standard ford type (round with 2 holes) hangers - actually one was already on the pipe when it came to me, and i noticed a little vibration sometimes - it seemed to be the pipe against the chassis rail behind the rear wheel. I had a new rubber in stock so swapped the rear one out as it was a bit perished.
This seems have solved the vibration, but the pipe is now hard on the chassis rail.

I seem to recall having seen a longer oval rubber hanger in the past, and I wonder if replacing the front one, which is just behind the silencer, might lower the pipe enough to give me a bit of clearance.

Any thoughts before I search some hangers out. I notice halfords have some bright yellow hangers with a few holes, which might help for experimentation height wise, anyone used these (I'd rather they were not bright yellow)

I've just fitted a Librands sports exhaust to my 4/4. It used brackets like these - fitting type D . I had to install them so the exhaust hangs from them so that the bracket would not protrude below the chassis and also for everything to line up with the manifold piping.

I have a version of fitting kit F at the rear.

Cheers Richard, It looks like if I have fitting kit B, from your chart. I have just obtained a couple of ford escort rubber hangers which are a bit longer, the holes that accomodate the prongs of the bracket are about 2 cm rather than 5-6 mm of the version i have.

I will swap one later when the pipe has cooled and see what the difference is. The rear most one will probably be easier to do so I will try this first

Sorted, swapping over the rear hanger for the longer version seems to have given me the clearance on the chassis that was needed, without reducing ultimate ground clearance that much
