I have a sheepskin flying jacket, which I bought from a trade shop in Street (Somerset).
Very warm, very soft, but not at its best in the rain.
The most effective jacket I've used is a superb Rab mountaineering jacket; (though the lovely Lady Budster does not think it suits the style of the Morgan)
Hence the compromise in wet conditions is a brown Barber Bushman coat. Warm and dry.

Exactly that. What are the chances eh? But a pigeon in the face could be very unpleasant, and on our last jaunt to North Yorkshire, they were a menace on the road, some passing just above the screen, causing MrsW to duck.....HoHoHo Been several cases in Australia of serious accidents caused by a motorcyclist in collision with a kookaburra. If you have ever seen the size and shape of a kookaburra's beak it doesn't bare thinking about. I had a very closer encounter with an eagle on one trip (just clipped his wing without any consequences for either of us) and a friend managed to stay upright after bowling over an emu on the same trip. The emu survived too.

Weren't Drizabone taken over by a UK company some years ago? The quality subsequently went downhill...
I seem to remember that was the 'story' of an RM Williams retailer in the early '90's when I bought my Stockman's Coat in Perth. Still using it here in UK winters...
Laughing Jackies - the whole thing is pretty large if you hit one. Pal of mine took a pidgeon in the chest once, out on the M5 here. He was bruised for a good few weeks - said the explosion of feathers was quite impressive...

It's odd that Aussies need such top notch waterproof coats as the drizabone, as to hear them talk it never, ever, rains there.

Coming very late to this as I've been away, and I see my recommendation was mentioned on the first page albeit with a slightly wrong bit of company naming, perhaps. Barnstormer Jacket The horsehide bit is ideal for a three wheeler, as it is waterproof and with a wipe down, shrugged off the mud of a rainy Prescott paddock where I had to lie down in the mud to fix my car. Yes it is pricey, but you'll hand it down to your grandchildren. Mine has a horse blanket lining too - something they offered a few years back.
