Sadly this event has been cancelled, due to lack of early entries. At time of writing, only 3 had been received.

That's cos there are to many people in the MSCC that own a "sports car" so they can polish it on a Sunday, and not to use for sport like it was built for.

It's a shame, but the club has been like this for a long long time now, and 3 entries to the most non damaging trial I've ever done it a reflection on this.

Steady on guys -- many people buy a Morgan to enjoy driving it on the open road and have no intention of driving it in competition of any kind. They are perfectly entitled to do this without a slightly "Holier than thou" response from those who do like competition.
It may be a pity that more do not enter some form of competition, but that is no reason to label people as only wanting the car to polish it. I have done 24000 miles in my Mog over the past 2.5 years and have no inclination to compete with it -- does this mean I shouldn't be a member of the MSCC -- I think not!!!

As Morgans become more expensive to buy and own it is only to be expected that more owners will be more careful of their cars and therefore eschew the competitive side of the club. Bending it can be expensive!!!

I attended last year.....just down the road from me....wanted to get a feel for what it was about. I would have entered this year but the event clashed with a long standing trip to Ireland. A real shame it's not attracted anyone this year but I do agree with Robbie...the club is not all about entering competitions.

Jay -- do you mean you came over here and didn't look up the PaddyMogs --- red card!!!!!! Shout the next time and we can arrange to meet and have a pint (of lemonade, of course!!!!)

I have no desire to compete with my 4/4
I've done the competition stuff (bikes) and just want to enjoy my Morgan. This for me means regular trips to France and Spain, meeting with friends and generally enjoying the pleasures of driving the car.
Oh yes; and I do polish it, and sometimes even on a Sunday.

Today, the weather in Berkshire is very sunny, and I have just been to the Post Office to tax the car. Good opportunity to the Morgan to the PO in Theale. Although just a few miles, the journey there and back use so uplifting, driving past the autumn trees. What more could you want. (Why am I in here typing this , and not outside. ).

This month is a big month in the life of my Morgan. MOT, 12 months car tax, 12 month insurance. It can hit the wallet, but to what extent.

12m car tax = £220
insurance = £293
MOT = £46
Annual cost = £559 (golly I wish I had not done that)
So that is £10.75 per week. (or 4 cups of Costa coffee).

If you rarely use your Morgan and think £10 per week is too much, you should sell your car and let someone else drive it, or you should get out there and enjoy it. I am lucky and can drive the Morgan to work, so I try and use it at least once a week.

So that is £10 per week. (or 4 cups of Costa coffee) - and no depreciation. Roll on sunny wintry days. A Morgan is for life, not just for Sundays.

12m car tax = €281
insurance (Compulsory third party) = €451
insurance (All Risks) = €1468
MOT = €75(every second year commencing the fourth year)

Annual cost = €2237 (without All Risks insurance €769.50, but who would risk it)

So that is €14.80 per week. (or 14 cups of Italian espresso coffee or 10 cups of cappucchino ). Actually when you look at it like that it's not so bad.

Mind you that is without even taking it out of the garage. When you add the cost of an annual service, fuel and tyres it costs a lot more, I don't think I want to think about that. I have to say that various sailing activities probably cost me about €5K or more a year but I don't want to think about that either.
