I have Avo front shocks which I fitted in 2013 and have now done 20k. I notice oil misting around the shock tube. Is this a sign of them failing? Is there a way to tell if they need replaced or not? They are Avo (Rutherford by New Elms)

An obvious oil leak on a shocker should lead to an advisory or fail on the MOT, the only real way to tell how bad they are (unless completely failed) is to take them off the car, clamp the bottom in a vice & give the top some 'action' like you're on a bumpy road
