Had already booked to go to New York this Thursday for 6 nights.

It is our wedding anniversary

Do we still go or not?

Views please

Will flights be resumed by Thursday?

Listening to the news while on the road today, sounds like there is a big cleanup operation required...

I'd go, but that's me grin2

My neice is somewhere around Baltimore (I think that's where she was headed in September). A student, a major part of the course is photography - hope she has managed to make the most of the opportunity, while remaining safe...

Cheers,

flights there and back will be difficult and very full/overbooked. Food etc may be short supply, and some shops maybe short staffed.

Experiance you will not forget though.

I would check your holiday insurance, if you don't attempt the trip. ie get turned back at the airport then you may not be able to claim.

Also try ringing the hotel (assuming you are staying in one), ask them for advice. Some of the shops have already opened and are trading. But I guess it depends on how far south you go...

As above.... Phone the hotel and ask what services have been affected and how other guests are responding. Check with the airline for their advice and then finally the wording of your insurance.

If it all looks horrid and you can get a full refund, head for Paris. smile

I'd agree with the above, if you do end up going can you ask the bell boy what he did with the extra dollar

TM Brain Teaser

I guess that once the initial panic has died down things will return to normal quickly. I can recall seeing scenes from the riots in London and overseas news suggested it was the end of the world, I'd hazard a guess the similar applies in the US. I can't see Obama wanting this dragging on with the big vote coming.

Having seen too many Storm Related disaster movies, If it were me, I would stay 'Snug as a Bug' over here and go later when the weather is better.

The media always exaggerate a situation so I have no doubt that it will be better than the impression you get from TV. Certainly before you cancel you need to check your insurance. If you do decide to go it would be sense top phone through to the hotel to find out how the land lies. And somehow you need to check airport to hotel transport.

Would I go? On my own I wouldnt think twice . With my wife, no I wouldnt - I can rough it without worry but I wouldnt like her to have to rough it. She never was the girl guide type.

However quickly it all starts to clear, can't see it being romantic by any stretch of the imagination. I'd suggest check your insurance and, if you can, go somewhere random on a short-notice break...you may be surprised where you end up! Either way, hope you'll tell us how it goes :-) Oh, and Happy Anniversary!

I wouldn't the US has great resiliance and can do but this will take a while high tides are still flooding areas.

Hotels will be staffed by skeleton staff.

Leave them to get on with it
