How sad that such an iconic car is left in that kind of condition...

No arguments today that it is an icon. But I'm sure I'm not the only person who can remember in the 1980s when the 246 was considered a poor relation to 'real' prancing horses. I wish I'd had the foresight to buy one... oldgit

Indeed. I can remember when you could get one (albeit ropey) for five grand.

Reminds me of the Ferrari that the Australian Customs Service impounded some years back because they thought the importer had under declared the value. The importer, an Italian who owned a Sydney panel shop, refused to pay the inflated tax and penalty. The car sat in a warehouse for about 15 years or more, you can imagine how it would have been, until some bright spark decided it was time to auction it off. In order to gain the best price they had the Sydney Ferrari dealer do a full restoration.

It went to auction and the original importer finally purchased his now fully restored car for less than the taxes and penalties that Australian Customs had originally imposed laugh

In the thumbnail picture it looks like it's in the corner of someone's living room, jambed between the back of the sofa and a radiator!

What's the story, where is it?

Give it to me and I will get it back to what it should be . I remember being a lad and the first one I spotted was outside a pub a few hundred yards from where I lived . I stood in awe at it , not the most expensive Ferrari but it pulls at my heart strings like no other prancing horse .

Me too. The 246 has been my favourite ever since I watched Tony Curtis drive one every week in The Persuaders when I was a kid.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to drive one myself, an awesome experience. One of the few cars I'd swap my Morgan for (but that's another topic!)

Always loved it too... My dreams were completely shattered when, having the funds to buy one, I realized that at 6 foot 3 (with long legs) I could simply not fit in it. The same experience happened with a stunning Alpine Renault.
