Safely back home now to watch the rugby on the telly. Bet you wish you'd stayed out for longer, unless you are an 'Argentinian' of course.  your not wrong there! (I'm not welsh either)

Winter tyres went on to the daily driver (Passat CC 170TDI DSG to give it its full title) at the end of October. 5 years in Canada and 5 years in Luxembourg convinced me of the value of winter rubber.

I bought snowsocks last year as a safety as my C220 Merc estate is s***t in the snow with it's 245 tyres.
This year I spent £900 for snow tyres with alloys. I have winter tyres when I lived in Bavaria & they make a big difference Why not buy used steels, you will probably get 2 ok tyres as part of the deal then put the winters on those???? half price and 2 ok tyres as part of the bargin??

This year I spent £900 for snow tyres with alloys. I have winter tyres when I lived in Bavaria & they make a big difference It can be worth checking on any offers going with main dealers. Last year when I equipped the Mini with winter rubber, having shopped around on t'web, I happened to be in the local BMW/Mini garage buying a new radio aerial and asked him what he could do for me. They had an offer on with 4 pirelli winter tyres mounted on steels for €570 the set, which he let me have for €500 after a bit of negotiation. This was over €100 less than the best deal I'd found elsewhere, and he swapped them over for me into the bargain, so I didn't even have to get my hands dirty. Result.
