I won't even begin to talk about Italy. Why do you think manufacturing is closing down or moving to other countries as fast as it can?

I won't even begin to talk about Italy. Why do you think manufacturing is closing down or moving to other countries as fast as it can? Tell me about it. My sister (who works for a large US manufacturer of aircraft parts) this summer organised an unpaid work placement for my elder daughter at their Turin factory. The HR people over there put up so many hurdles that even the direct intervention of the VP in charge of France and Italy was unable to shift the blockage. In the end we just gave up & my daughter went and did her yachtmaster certificate instead. Useful and fun, but not so good for her Italian.

Very true in France one has to jump a considerable amount of hurdles + leaping through hoops at the same time. So not easy on either side of the channel. Everything comes down to a  in the end

    and it aint the Employee ((thought i better get that one in before they all crusify me)) its th red tape, now they want us to sort pensions for them, iv been a Dad twice why should i have to look after an adults state of affairs for the next 20 years. GRRRR dont get me started, this thread could go a long way.

Why does the government (any of them...) want you to sort out an empoyee's pension? Because the pension system that we have all been paying into for years is bu..ered and will probably not be anything else now!

Government now running adverts on tele, i think the slogan goes something like We are all in it together [i] then finishes by saying your employer has a duty to sort you a pension.[/i] Thats apart from the nearly 6 weeks Hoildays they get. i worked it out the other day, 7 staff, i need to pay out the equvalent of 1 mans 6 months wages for people to have holidays. Ah am going home i feel sick already
