I have been thinking of the Simmons strap as an after purchase if I can't resist a bonnet strap.
Do you have the missing louvres on your 4/4 Jays? Have you noticed any bonnet scratching from the straps?

My bonnet strap has worn the edge of the bonnet, buckle (passenger) side down to shiny aluminium. Praise be that it IS ally and not steel. You cant see the bare metal with the bonnet closed but it is annoying when checking the oil etc to see it. Shall be ordering some touch up paint shortly.

I don't know why the factory insists on fitting the bonnet strap with the buckle on the offside as the frequently checked items, dipstick,coolant level and washer bottle level are all on the nearside on the 3 litre engine. Is the 3.7 the same?
Don. Yes the buckle on the 3.7 is on the offside and the dipstick is on the nearside. Perhaps it's so as you overtake lesser vehicles you don't blind them with the reflection from the buckle? Perhaps it's to give instant access to the fuse box? Who knows?!

Have just spent 3 hrs on a train in Holland trying to explain why I love Morgans to a colleague. He got that. He has a friend who is like a train spotter but he collects shipping container numbers. Apparently one in particluar has travelled mega times around the world. Each to his own but owning a trad vs that seems sane.
