If you dinged a Bugatti T35, then the factory cannot provide the parts to restore it, but once repaired I am pretty sure that it would not just be an expensive paperweight.
And in ten years time when it is probable / possible that there are no parts available from the MMC, would a bent Aeromax be an expensive paper weight? or would the owners rely on the skills of the aftermarket?
This is something which has to be said about buying cars which are generally run and repaired by enthusiasts, that even if they do bend it badly the repair work is usually good quality as its there pride and joy and half the hobby is getting greasy.
If you are buying it, then you are surely just gambling that at some point in the future, it will be an economic repair as right now it isn't.
I suppose you could push it into lake Maggiore in a spectacular fashion for safe keeping and to increase it's heritage interest. Or stack some paper under it in the meantime so it can do something useful while sitting there waiting....
I dont get it: if the guy has been able to get the car through MOT, VIC to get the new logbook, what's fishy about it? Is the insurance cat B not forwarded to DVLA?
Ahhh. My apologies Brian. I missed the bit where someone actually repaired this and is selling it for 70k.
It's cheap. And cheap for a reason.
Not a paperweight, and maybe in 20 years time it will be worth more than 70% if a good one. Maybe not.
My money would still be in a good one that has a good provenance. If you really want an Aeromax and have 70k then you can find the rest for a proper car...

Perhaps half of all 250GTO's have a very chequered history but values are not affected.
The Aeromax today is condition important. When half of these Aeromax's are multi owner, big miles, lots of paint etc then the car mentioned here will not seem such an epic lemon...
Footnote.
These cars appear to deteriorate very quickly if used regularly. They corrode hideously for a modern machine.
There will be a few condition B's out there to restore as well as uber low mile minters...

Err! It reminds me of the first and only BMW I bought in Australia some years ago. It was an import from the UK. I did not like it and sold it off quickly. A week later the new owner called me. He had had a minor accident on a roundabout and the insurance inspector had told him that the car had been made out of two crashed cars that had been cut in half and welded together. Naturally I had no idea. Apparently it was such a dodgy job that the insurance company approved the minor repairs but cancelled his policy. A case of "buyer beware".
