Which do find works best in the snow ? I'd love to find out. Haven't had a chance to drive the G in snow yet. I am guessing that the three independent diffs and the steadier torque delivery of the G350 will make it more capable in deep stuff, but the Defender is a manual, has more power and more balanced weight distribution front\rear so the Landy feels really nice in snow on the tracks behind where we live in Kent

Def' or G, in any case on a snowy road I would recommend a long wheel base (110 or 130 for the def') for a better driving stability.

I do have a defender - but lust over the G wagon - but not enough to get rid of the Range Rover. here is my answer ....independent suspension - looks like a defender - BMW twin turbo diesel - but not many creature comforts - but good in the snow ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQSre6BRqg4&feature=player_embedded

Come on fellas, let's talk serious off road speed None of this bumbling along lanes...... As I said previously, that is one beast of a vehicle; absolutely love it! Comfortable, huge sense of occasion when you're in it, makes people smile (or Eco warriors wave their sandals at you ) and is bags of fun. When it snows, we are going to the local coffee house for a nice hot chocolate; we'll be the only ones there but what a journey!
