To me it is varying levels of what is subjectively 'acceptable' when purchasing a car and this goes hand in hand with the type of car you are buying. The marque and its history you are buying in to gives leeway with certain issues; after all, no car is perfect.
Personally speaking I find paying several hundred quid for a DAB radio on an 80k mass-produced car to be unacceptable, yet that is what Jaguar ask you to do with the F-Type. I take more umbrage with feeling fleeced than most anything else...

I honestly don't think they need to. Lambo has been an ailing concern since the '70s and they still dream of profit like Ferrari. Since Audi came in things have been vastly better, mainly because of the Gallardo and the fact most of it is made in Germany, but people still have a vast array of issues with the cars...

Is the question that paint bubbles in less than three years , exhausts 'droop' , hoods leak and stones damage wings from the inside because there are no liners/protection? If so yes
Ferrari for a start and they cost a lot more. I don't know how you can expect a company with a tiny budget to produce cars to the same level as a major manufacturer with the backing of an umbrella group and all that provides, from the cost of a basic bolt/washer all the way to being able to spend tens of millions just designing lamp clusters. I'm not saying the cars are perfect but let's be realistic. I don't think I'm being that unrealistic if I expect the roof not to leak and the paint not to bubble , haveing just parted company with over £100K for a new Aero and probably over £50/60 for a pre-owned one. Bottom line is if no one says to MMC 'I would have spent £80K if your car didn't leak , but it does , so I'm not going to buy one', they will not know they have lost a customer. I wonder how much of the £120,000 HSBC award MMC recieved is going into R&D on a watertight hood, answers on a postcard and if the answer is 'over £1' I will eat all the custard you can send me.

The DAB is an option with Jaguar, maybe we should suggest they add 'Morgan style leaking roof' NCO and see how many people select it It's an option when it shouldn't be, they are fleecing customers who will be forced to select options for resale if nothing else. 'Oh sir, this is an essential option' - so essential you're charging me for it. And seeing as the car isn't production ready there's no way of knowing if it will be utterly watertight. I await the inevitable electrical architecture failure. Given how heavy it is I imagine there is more cabling than an electrical substation, much of which will be poorly placed in time-honoured fashion. Cynical, me?
