Make sure you keep the water drains in front of the windscreen clear Giles (bit like keeping those on MX-5s and Boxters, to name just two, clear). Damn things should be engineered so as the be reasonably self cleaning or pull the air from somewhere else that doesn't get filled up with leaves etc. My Alfa has twice blocked the aircon drains and filled up the passenger foot well with water. After the second time something was done to ensure it never happened again. Unfortunately seems to have had the side effect of ruining a very expensive wiper motor that doesn't like to function submerged. Then the aircon pump seized filling the car with smoke from the belt running over a blocked pully. Add to that dampers, suspension components and a new rack and pinion. 90,000 km and so far I have spent about €15K on repairs that should not have been needed. Needless to say I will think twice before buying another Alfa.

I agree that x4 national salary is alot of money, but at the same time, its not that difficult to say that a profesional of modest means could earn 45k for example. Even £45k which is way above national average income, after deducting tax & NI and after living expenses would not leave much for a mog fund. Take a while to get to Aero money. Most Aero owners seem to have cash cow businesses plus Starbucks trained accountants (you know who you are!) clip Regards Captain Sensible. Interesting comment. I suspect most Morgan owners are prepared to spend up to one to one and a half maximum two year's income to buy their car. You have to already have house and kids paid for even to do that otherwise you simply don't have that much money set aside. If this is the case the M3W clearly opens up a new market as much for its lower price as anything else.

Lol, i had an alfa apart from the series 1 landy was the only car that you scraped ice from the inside. on the landy, inside and outside were flexible terms anyway

X-type (estate) now you have got me started. Water leaks in boot repaired twice not fixed, caused parking sensor to become water logged. Car steamed up, oil leak repaired twice, uneven tyre wear. What a disappointment. Never again. Not yet had the roof up on the Morgan. However, my expectation is that I will get leaks, am I bothered, not really. In my old spitfires I got the odd dribble. I can live with that. The secret is to keep moving if you get caught in the rain.

Guys Guys Guys, calm down dear its only a commercial  look at it this way, cars were originally built minus a hood and therefore each time it rained you always got wet without question (1890-1920)  thereafter early manufacturers started to fit hoods only to eliminate getting soaking wet, no one ever suggested it they would keep you bone dry  Have a nice day Dean

In any event to spend £70k or more on a car personally, I would need own house, no debts, no future upsizing, £300k bare minimum invested plus good income stream and adequate kids education fund.

All very true and sensible but may I offer a slightly different viewpoint.  Given the hours I work and the job I do I need to have something to motivate me. I don't mind working towards a goal but it is good to have a carrot on the end of that stick along the way. Every time I hit the starter button I am reminded that the next meeting will provide funding for short and long term. I never considered that a Morgan would have an ROI value (return on investment) maybe its a new angle on ownership. I arrive with a big grin and full of happy energy which I take into the meeting. Who can say no to a grinning (gurning?) idiot with a Morgan ? If my good lady did not allow me to smell the roses as well then I would have wage slave tattooed over my forehead. I will trade the car but I won't trade her ! Man cannot live by Diesel alone. 
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

As I have said previously somewhere, when I explained the necessity of the purchase of my, sorry our plus four to the wife. It is not as it might at first appear, a mid life crisis sports car for me to tool about in. It is an asset diversification strategy designed to rebalance our investment portfolio.
